Job Description:
The Senior Cloud Engineer will be a core member of a technical
team that's responsible for supporting, building, and designing
cloud infrastructure and platform for Enterprise cloud services.
The incumbent will provide direct analysis and recommendations
associated with the implementation or migration of specific
applications to cloud services and work with the business teams to
create migration and technology roadmaps. The Senior Cloud Engineer
will innovate ideas, develop proof-of-concepts and rapid prototypes
alongside other engineers utilizing pair programming and mobbing
techniques, consult and upskill other engineers on DevSecOps and
Cloud solutions to include distributed version control and
trunk-based development practices, infrastructure automation,
monitoring and operations, and a well-architected AWS/Azure
infrastructure.Responsibilities include developing, solutioning,
operating, maintaining, and supporting the Cloud Infrastructure
environment: servers, storage, network services, enterprise
applications, web application stack, and cloud platform support and
automation.Core Responsibilities:
- Responsible for any technological duties associated with cloud
resources, including development, design, planning, management,
maintenance, and support.
- Work with the team to improve, expand, enhance continuous
integration and deployments of cloud infrastructure and
tooling.
- Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring,
management, and operations.
- Continuous proof-of-concepts development and rapid prototypes
alongside other engineers utilizing pair programming and mobbing
techniques.
- Develop standards in partnership with Engineering,
Infrastructure Services, and Application Development.
- Cloud Services Support
- Day-to-day operations for service request fulfillment based on
SLA/SLO.
- Implement and maintain cloud management solutions including
initial and ongoing configuration of related automation,
notifications, and reporting capabilities.
- Support the engineering requirements of Legacy/On-Prem
enterprise applications and develop Cloud migration solutions.
- All tasks related to cloud performance, stability, reliability,
efficiency, and security to both the sites and the general
operations.
- Provide oral and written status reports to IT management and
customer support
- Document solutioning and architectural design.
- Create runbooks/SOP for operational processes.
- Demo cloud development work to the team.Competencies:
- Minimum 5 years experience with Linux operating system
administration.
- Minimum 5 years experience with Windows operating system
administration.
- Minimum 5 years experience with scripting or programming
language (Python, Ruby, Java, C/C++, etc.).
- Minimum 5 years experience with Cloud platforms and
services.
- Minimum 5 years experience with virtualization systems.
- Minimum 5 years experience managing full stack
applications.
- Minimum 5 years experience in enterprise environments.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.Knowledge
of:
- Expertise in cloud platforms and all related products and
services (Amazon Web Services, Azure, GCP).
- Deploying and use of IaC tools (Terraform,
CloudFormation).
- Deploying and use of configuration management tools (Chef,
Puppet, SaltStack, etc.).
- Software Release management (CI/CD).
- Deploying, securing, and maintaining (operationalizing) web
application stacks (LAMP, J2EE, WISA, MEAN, etc.).
- Expertise in web servers (Apache, NGINX, IIS, etc.).
- Expertise in databases and other storage systems (MySQL, MSSQL,
Oracle, NFS, CIFS, Redis, ELK, etc.).
- Expertise in languages and language runtimes (PHP, Java, .NET,
Node.js, etc.).
- Expertise in application integration technologies (WS-*, REST,
SSO, OAuth, etc.).
- Strong understanding of browser and network functionality.
- Deploying and administering Linux and Windows servers.
- Experience in large heterogeneous server and network
infrastructure.
- Enterprise processes and procedures.
- Container management wanted (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Developing and executing CIS benchmark security controls.
- Successful approaches, tools, and techniques for dealing with
changes and adapting to a changing environment including the
ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Approaches, tools, and techniques for promoting innovative,
original thinking and applying it to existing and emerging
situations.Skill In:
- Strong interpersonal skills are required. Ability to work
effectively with team members, clients, and other areas of the IT
environment.
